About a week ahead of National Window Film Day is Earth Day - April 22nd and we want to help homeowners from coast-to-coast celebrate it in style too. What many people don’t realize is that not only does window film make a home’s windows look fantastic – but it also ensures that your home is more energy efficient and greener in many ways!

Lots of people think immediately about replacing old windows when they start thinking about their home’s “building envelope” and the energy that can quite literally fly out the window. But replacement windows should not be the first consideration. Especially for those of us who are ‘green minded’ as well as energy conscious.

Think of the tons of waste material that need to be hauled away to a landfill from structurally sound windows that are tossed out before they are worn out. In addition, the cost of fabricating new windows isn’t a small one – and it goes beyond monetary cost to encompass the environmental cost as well. The energy wasted in removing, disposing of and then building and installing new windows when you really don’t have to go that route is something to think about.

The more you know, the better your decisions are – and in some cases, the more you can save! This is the case with window film and this spring season the IWFA is committed to doing everything possible to support consumers in getting smarter than ever about this great home improvement.

Consumers deserve to connect with a true expert for advice and informed guidance before embarking on any important improvement or investment in their home.  Because of this, the IWFA has established programs to ensure window film professionals are at the top of their game. We hold events every year that include competitions, seminars and accreditation opportunities, and are dedicated to supporting installers and dealers with the latest, most relevant data and guidance to serve consumers.

Window film can be a high-value investment for any home or building, and consumers expect the product represented to them to perform the services and provide the benefits represented to them. That’s the goal of the IWFA’s successful accreditation program for window film professionals. February 28-March 2 will be our Dallas Regional Window Film Association Conference and Competitions event. On the first day, I’m looking forward to once again leading the IWFA Educational Accreditation classes where we share knowledge with...

Happy 2014! The IWFA is excited about the New Year upon us. We have so much to build on, thanks to the great work of our team in 2013. We’re proud to be part of an industry on the move and confident this will be our biggest, best year yet.

In case you missed any of the new developments we launched this past year – I’ll provide a quick recap of some highlights here. These are resources window film industry leaders and informed consumers can’t do without.

The IWFA kicked-off Facebook and Twitter and YouTube communities in early 2013, to share news and insights and create a closer connection between the IWFA, others in the window film industry and consumers that can benefit from learning more about window film. If you haven’t already – join us there!

In 2013 we also offered a free consumer booklet for consumers to learn more about window film! We’re all about sharing our experience, facts and insights on how everyone can get more benefits and value than ever before from window film.  And in November we launched this IWFA blog to keep you and others even closer to issues of interest!

2014 is right around the corner. It's a time of year to reflect on the past and take a fresh look at what’s ahead – what’s working, what’s not, and how to improve where you can. The IWFA is here for consumers that want to consider how to make a cost-effective improvement on their home that will deliver a return on investment in spades.

Window Film is a home improvement that offers benefits in so many areas – almost everyone I talk to about window film’s benefits has something new to learn! How many products can you think of that have potential to deliver energy savings in A/C season, glare reduction all year, security (keeping any broken windows in-place rather than allowing shattered glass shards to scatter throughout your home if a window is broken) and UV protection for your home décor, artwork and your skin in all seasons. Today’s professionally installed window film is really that impressive!

For many people, a home is a once in a lifetime purchase, the biggest single investment they’ll ever...

The holiday season seems to come more quickly every year. This prompts us to reflect on what we’re most grateful for, and to look ahead towards a new year right around the corner. As I think about the industry I’ve been immersed in for the last 35 years of my life, I’m amazed at how much innovation and advancement has taken place. Window film has changed tremendously with major innovations in materials, application, technology and more. This is a fast-moving industry and I am truly thankful to be part of it and to share it with readers here at “The View”.

I am excited to ‘meet you’ through our new blog called ‘My View’!
-Why did we select this title?

It has been a privilege to be part of the window film industry for over 35 years, and, as a result of this background, I have seen the many advances in window film as a product. I also have a ‘bias’ on the tremendous value that window film offers – with good reason of course for that view. And finally, anytime I look out a window, knowing that window film brings many benefits, even protecting my eyes and skin from sun damage, enhances my view.
