SUBJECT:  New York AB 10518 to eliminate window tinting!    (Attached: Contact information for Assemblymen Michael Cusick and                 Matthew Mirones)

Assemblyman Matthew Mirones of Richmond and King Counties           has introduced Assembly Bill 10518, which severely limits the             light transmittance allowance on all passenger vehicles.  This bill              is in addition to previous legislation that is currently being            amended to better serve all parties involved.  Notices regarding            that bill have previously been forwarded

The bill would set the allowable light transmittance for all windows             on any vehicle to 90% unless the film is confined to the top six          inches of the window to which it is applied.  The law, which would       take effect January 1, 2005, is not applicable to vehicles with      windows that were tinted before that date.  This bill would make           the majority of new vehicles with nothing more than the factory       window glazing illegal in New York.

It is critical for all New York window film industry members            to contact their assemblyman; failure to do so could           eliminate the vehicle window film industry in New York.               The AIMCAL-WFC legislative consultants are currently engaged            in very positive negotiations with Assemblyman Cusick of           Richmond County to assist in the drafting of meaningful and             positive legislation.  They hope to provide Assemblyman Cusick,         and now Assemblyman Mirones, with the information they require          to serve the needs of the industry, consumers and the law      enforcement community.

Please write, phone and/or e-mail Assemblymen Mirones and       Cusick to encourage their continued work with IWFA to create    effective legislation for New York.
