LEGISLATIVE ALERT

HOUSE BILL 1152

To:   Manufacturers, Distributors, and Virginia Dealers

From:  The IWFA

Date:  March 17, 2008

Subject:  House Bill 1152

The General Assembly of Virginia considered legislation introduced by       Delegate Clarence E. ”Bud” Phillips (Castlewood) during the 2008              session to expand the exemptions for window film to include the rear          windows and rear side windows of any ambulance, rescue squad vehicle,              or any other emergency medical vehicle.

This is an important addition to the 1993 legislative approval of the                current law regarding the installation and standards of window film in the Commonwealth.  The measure was approved without dissent and was               s   supported by the enforcement community.  The Governor signed the bill               into law on March 3, 2008, and the new exemption will be effective on               July 1, 2008.

Members who are interested in contacting Delegate Phillips to express             their appreciation of his support for the industry are encouraged to do so.

The Honorable Clarence E. Phillips
