Subject: Change in Ohio Film Law
Date:
May 19, 2004
Many
dealers have received in the mail notifications of changes in the
window film law in Ohio. These mailings were not sent by IWFA and
contain a few minor discrepancies. The new Ohio law applies as
follows:
1. Windshield:
above AS-1 line any darkness film is permitted, below the AS-1 line
70% net is allowed provided that the film is not red or yellow in
color.
2. Front
Side Windows: This remains unchanged at 50% net with a 3% tolerance.
3. Rear
Side Windows and Rear Windshield: Any darkness film is allowed
provided the vehicle is equipped with rear facing mirrors on both
sides of the vehicle.
4. Film
used on any window of the motor vehicle is not allowed to increase
reflectivity.
5. The
definition of limousine was changed to include all hourly carriers
designed to carry nine or fewer passengers on a route controlled by
the hiring person pursuant to a prearranged contract.
